When five strikes
It's always about the dress
To wear, or not
It's not quite a choice
But mom always comes home;
She says,
"I birthed two sons already"
It's the state of affairs
For she, tomboy as could be
It's all about the presentation
Of climbing trees and playing games
If she's one of the boys,
It's a phase, they say
And today, a few years go to pass
It's still boy, you'd like to think
Tomboy
Who is tom, anyway?
Like a cat. Tomcat.
Who's Tom?

It isn't she.
She says it again;
It isn't she, but everyone knows
She'll never be a boy in a dress,
Or rather, it's a choice now
For jeans, no one notices
When girls where the boys clothes
It's true love
So, perhaps
It is a boy in a dress situation,
In that in a dress everyone knows,
A problem arose,
When a phase didn't last quite so long,
She thinks, it's just the case
To be crashed, a boy with a choice to wear the dress
Such as in family photos,
A little girl in a dress,
But what if it was a suit?
An uncomfortable shift,
In all the dresses that no longer fit
Even when she could accept being a boy in a dress,
Frills from first grade,
When it was all mother ever said
"I birthed a girl, act like one"
And for Christmas, a make-up kit

And indeed, ten years later,
A make-up kit is vastly appreciated
Disguises made to fool the public mind
Into the reality she's always portrayed to her dreams
A clown, to her old friends
It was a guise unachievable socially
In a tower, is a boy waiting for a knight
In a room, away from nurture
She's certainly done her work
Stomping on the floor, a cloak of her identity
If she saw it all then, perhaps
The shadow of the idea she was a Tom,
Would have been further from the truth
In truth, it's all the truest crime
A giant lie to the world
That girls are Tom, boys
And not simply that;
He thinks, for once, the s has limited scope
Where the truth of the matter lies,
The gates are opened, and he's all dress
And still nothing more
Than some fakin' tomboy
Waiting for morning, for sunshine and
Honesty from clouded eyes
been thinkin' bout the lack of trans boy representation in media
never stop thinkin' about it really
