A Poem For When You Wanna Kiss a Girl
Deviation Actions
Literature Text
Lay in bed and look up the following:
Carpal Tunnel
Glaring into your phone ask yourself:
How many hours of texting does it take to get it,
Because I think I just got lost in the hours texting you
And no amount of stretches are helping,
But maybe a "feel better" kiss?
Take in the smell of
Dying roses and
Ever so slowly spoiling chocolates
Serenading your nose
Ever so gently, they know your sensitivity
They know how easily you jump at the softness
Of a girls hips, or a girls lips
Or a girls anything at all, really
How easy is it to make you blush?
Your face is already burnt to a crisp
From pure embarrassment of miscalculated messages
At least you didn't tell it to her face,
But God how you wish you could tell it to her face
Remind her she's beautiful with
A ring on each finger,
It's not much,
You won it for fifty cents in a toy machine
But it's the thought that counts, right?
Paint her nails and brush her hair because
If she can't get any prettier,
You'll paint pictures, instead
Make her breakfast, lunch and dinner
Ignoring the fact you work through breakfast, lunch and yes, even dinner
Because so does she, and everyone else in the world
Just to survive a little longer,
Without starving to death
Without losing your home
Play the guitar like you've never played it before,
Take her for walks
Where you pick flowers in the winter
And laugh at the ice cream shop
So old, yet disgusting at every angle
A dirty feeling everyone's chosen to ignore,
Alongside jacked up prices,
Because, hey! -- that's just the way things are.
It's my culture! You'd say.
Pretty lame, don't you agree?
But you smile, anyway.
Laugh it off, anyway.
Because all you really want is
To take a girl to the school dance,
And maybe Prom, too.
Waste away the evenings, the days,
Every hour wasted feels so good,
Because it's an hour wasted with you.
And every minute you catch yourself thinking,
Is this the part where I kiss her?
Is this finally the moment I get to decide
How a girls lips taste for the time?
God, if only you knew.
You're something of a clumsy mess,
Still a child in a growing adult world.
And that's all there is to it.
You'll never really learn,
How to live this life,
Like how even after your first kiss,
You'll never really know
How to kiss a girl.
But you'll keep stumbling on none-the-less
Because there's still so much to live for,
So many sounds you've never heard
And God, do you want to hear them all
You want to hear the sound of her heart beat,
When you send her good morning texts
You want to hear the sound of her tears
When you have a petty argument completely lost on you
You want to hear the sound of her footsteps
Coming home at two a.m., just to lie in bed
Above all, despite it all,
The only thing you ever really want to hear
Everyday, is the sound of her lips
Pressed gently, flawlessly
Onto yours
